Christian Counseling
The father instantly cried out, “I do believe, but help me overcome my unbelief!”
Mark 9:24
It’s easy for a Christian to feel condemned if their faith is struggling. While reading Scripture, praying, and worshipping are powerful tools, sometimes your thoughts, emotions, and responses become so distracting that it’s difficult to enter into those practices. Over time, God begins to feel distant, and your hope that these tools are helpful begins to wane.
How do we approach Christian counseling for individual or couples work?
While still meeting ethical requirements as a clinical therapist, we explore the following as needed:
How has your struggle impacted your relationship with God or your level of faith
Which spiritual practices have you typically leaned into that strengthened you in the past
What does God’s Word say about your present struggle
How does God’s thoughts toward you (from Scripture) compare to your thoughts about yourself
How do we incorporate God’s Word with evidence-based therapeutic practices to adjust your thoughts or belief system
How do we incorporate God’s Word with evidence-based therapeutic practices to adjust or improve your emotional state
Which spiritual practices are missing in your life to sustain long-term change
Is there hesitation to seek spiritual practices…if so, is it necessary to explore why and how to overcome
Exploring these factors helps us develop a treatment plan that is right for you
